• Why save the date?

    When it comes to wedding planning, I know there are so many things to consider. The process really can get a little overwhelming when trying to keep up with all the little details.

    So, let me help take the load off when it comes to one of the first parts of wedding planning: save the dates.

    These days, save the dates are becoming more and more common (magnetic ones are particularly popular right now).

    Do you have to send them? Of course not! You are the bride, after all.

    But, there are many reasons why sending them can be a great benefit to making your wedding process run much smoother.

    Sending a save the date is a great courtesy to your wedding guests because it gives them plenty of time to keep their calendars clear. This is especially true if you are having a destination wedding, celebrating your big day around a holiday or have some guests that will have to travel from long distances to get to your wedding. It gives them a heads up to save money or work out the logistics of travel plans.

    It is usually good to send your save the dates around six to eight months before your wedding date, but you can send them earlier. If you are having a destination wedding or celebrating around holidays, it is best to send as early as possible.

    Once you send a save the date to someone, they will expect an wedding invitation to follow. But, if you decide later you want to add someone to the list, no sweat. Just send them an invitation.

    Creating your save the dates doesn’t have to be a big hassle. You should include at minimum the date and location of your wedding, but if you have more details worked out, you can include those, as well.
